Essential Beliefs

We believe in the one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (The Trinity) (Acts 16:6-10, Matthew 28:18-20)

  • We believe God is the Creator of all things and is the Sustainer and Lord of our lives. (Genesis 1:1, Romans 1:25, Psalm 54:4)
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son and Savior of the world. (John 3:16-17, John 14:6, Acts 4:8-12)
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, God himself who indwells each Christ Follower and encourages, guides, comforts, and transforms us and seals in the way of Christ. (John 14:26, John 16:7-11, Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant and inspired written Word of God and the authoritative rule for all matters of faith and practice for Christ Followers and the Church. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12)

  • We do not require that members subscribe to a formal creed. In a very real sense, “We have no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible. “The basis of our unity is that scripture alone is the standard, that all is for the glory of God alone, that by Christ’s work alone are we saved, that salvation is by grace alone, and that justification is by faith alone.

We believe that man, created by God, willfully sinned and, as a result, is lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ, whose death, burial, and resurrection opened the way for salvation and eternal life to all who call on His name.

(Romans 3:23, 1 John 1:8, Romans 5:8)

We believe that salvation – the forgiveness of sins – comes only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is offered to all persons, all of whom are created in the image of God.

(Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 11:6, John 14:6)

We believe that the Bible clearly outlines the pattern to follow Christ as Lord: to believe in Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Christ publicly, and to be immersed in baptism.

(Acts 2:36-39, 8:36-38, 9:18, 10:47-48, 16:31-33)

We believe that God is the Creator of all people, that they are created male and female in his image, that He knows them from conception, and therefore that each man and woman is inherently precious.

(Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:41 & 44)

We believe God designed sex for marriage relationships, and that God established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive union between one man and one woman. God calls all His people to honor Him with their sexual activity. Those who are married honor Him by remaining sexually faithful to their spouse. And those who are single, honor Him through committed celibacy empowered and encouraged by their faith community.

(Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9, Matthew 5:27-30, Hebrews 14:4, 1 Corithians 6:12-20)

We believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-27), was founded on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2), and consists of all Christians everywhere.

(Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:11, Romans 10:12-13)

We believe that God created the church to have unity. Unity in the church is non-negotiable. In matters of faith, unity; in matters of opinion, liberty; in all things, love.

(1 Corinthians 1:10, John 17:21, Ephesians 4:1-6)

We believe that death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will be resurrected to eternal life with God; the unsaved will be resurrected to the judgment of eternal separation from God.
(Hebrews 9:27, 1 Corinthians 15:21-22, Matthew 25:31-46)

  • One day God, who created the heavens and the Earth, will bring life on Earth to a conclusion. While accepting various understandings of how God will bring this about, we trust that Christ will come again and will call His own to Himself. (Matthew 24, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
